Help
How everything in the member portal works, in the order somebody usually needs it. If what you want is not here, ask us and we will answer and then add it.
Signing in
- There is no password, and that is deliberate
- Go to the sign-in page, type the email address the Chamber has for you, and we send you a six digit code. Type the code and you are in. Nothing to remember, nothing to reset, and nothing to leak.
- The code has not arrived
- Give it a minute and check the junk folder. If it still has not come, the address you typed is probably not the one on your listing. Ask us and we will tell you which address we hold.
- Somebody else set up our listing
- Whoever manages the listing can invite you from the People tab, or ask us and we will send you an invitation.
Filling in your listing without writing it yourself
- Let us write the first draft
- At the top of your listing there is a button that reads your own website and suggests a one-line description, an about section, what you offer and your opening hours. It is the fastest way to go from an empty listing to a real one.
- Nothing is saved until you say so
- The draft appears beside the fields for you to read. Use the parts you like, edit any of it, ignore the rest. Nothing reaches your public listing until you press Save changes.
- It needs a website to read
- If your listing has no website on it, add one and save first. If your site is mostly images with little text, there may not be enough for it to work from, and it will say so rather than invent something.
Your listing details
- The one-line description is the one that gets read
- It sits under your name everywhere you appear: the directory, search results, the map. Say what you do and who for, in a line.
- About your business
- A few paragraphs. This is what the directory search reads when somebody describes what they need in their own words, so the more plainly it says what you actually do, the more often you come up.
- Services and hours
- Services are one per line. For hours, untick a day and the listing says closed. A ticked day with blank times is treated as closed too, because a half filled day would read as open at midnight.
- Categories
- One primary, up to two more. The primary is the heading you file under and it is what the directory sorts and filters on, so pick the one somebody would look under first.
- The business name is ours to change
- It is the name on the Chamber roster, so it is not editable in the portal. Ask us and we will change it.
- Your street address
- You choose whether it shows. Turn it off and the town stays, the street does not, and your map pin goes with it, because a pin at the door IS the address.
Logo, banner and photos
- Your logo
- Drop in a square-ish image. There is a cropper, so it does not have to be perfect before you upload it. A transparent PNG looks best.
- Your banner
- The wide image across the top of your listing. Anything busy or full of small text will be hard to read at that shape; a photograph of the place or the work reads best.
- Nothing is public until you save
- Cropping and uploading only change what you see. Press Save changes.
Being found, and being introduced
- People search in their own words
- Somebody looking for a roofer may type "fix my roof" rather than a category. The directory reads your description to answer that, which is why a listing with only a name and a phone number is hard to find.
- The Chamber introduces members to each other
- We match members to the customers, suppliers and referral partners they actually want, and it reads your description to do it. An empty description means we have nothing to go on and cannot introduce you to anybody.
- Put the badge on your website
- There is a Proud Member badge on the brand kit page, with the code already written. Paste it in and it links back to the directory.
Posting to the member feed
- What the feed is for
- News other members would want to know: something you have launched, somewhere you are hiring, an offer, a milestone. It appears on the Chamber feed and on your own listing.
- Who can post
- Anybody who can manage your listing, and the post carries your business name rather than a person’s.
Who else can manage your listing
- Invite a colleague
- The People tab. They get their own sign-in at their own email address, so nobody is sharing a login.
- Removing somebody
- The same tab. Their access ends immediately.
Membership, receipts and renewals
- Your receipts
- The Receipts tab has every payment the Chamber has recorded, and each one can be downloaded.
- Renewing
- We invoice you. If a card is on file, the renewal runs on the date shown on your record.
- Canceling
- There is a link at the foot of the portal. It reaches a person, not a switch, because we would rather ask what went wrong first.
